Tropical Flower Balloon Arch

I originally designed this colorful arch for a luau event I did with several other balloon artists last June.  Since then I've had several customer requests for this arch.  Seems that, no matter how elaborate the rest of the balloon decorations are at any event, this stunning arch gets the most raves!

Princess Party Balloon Decorations

Funny how a last-minute addition can have lasting impact...

A couple years ago, I was asked to provide a couple of balloon columns and some centerpieces for the birthday party for an adorable 1 year-old girl.  The theme?  PRINCESSES!

For centerpieces I made balloon "pillows" upon which rested a balloon tiara.  These tiaras were then given as gifts to the other young guests at the party.

The lighted balloon Corinthian Columns were placed on either side of a beautiful Disney Princess mural that was provided by the mother of the birthday girl.

As I was getting ready to leave the venue, I hesitated...there was just something missing...  My husband was with me and I asked his opinion.  We came up with the idea of adding a "flower garland" - spanning the distance between the two columns and framing the beautiful mural.  It was a sort of "pseudo arch".  Last-minute...and it made all the difference.

ALOHA MITZVAH! - A Luau in Balloons

A LUAU is ALWAYS in-style! And to decorate your luau with pizazz....
do it in BALLOONS!
(Photos courtesy of Marci Shill Photography...the nice ones are, that is.
The others are courtesy of a few cell phones.)
As guests entered, they were "washed-ashore" by a giant balloon rip curl!
(About 1000 balloons in the "water" alone.)

A balloon "surfer dude" rode the balloon wave as well.
(Seems most every guy that sees this claims it was modeled after him...)

A very "touristy" balloon tiki hut served as a backdrop for a refreshing frozen tropical drink station for the teenagers  (12' wide, 3' deep, and 9' tall).
Sure hope those tiki torches don't catch the hut roof on fire!

"The Balloon People" came and set-up beautiful tropical palm trees throughout the room
that we decorated with a variety plants, flowers and animals. (Thanks, Francine!)

We built a framed, non-helium, 32' Tropical Floral Arch that spanned the dance floor -
a colorful, elegant backdrop for the Polynesian dancers that performed that night.
This is my wonderful husband JOE - I consider him to be the backbone of Balloon Happy AZ, LLC
He engineers and builds all the framing I need for my balloon project designs....
and helps with most everything else.
What a guy!

Marta Hoburg (Bee Happy Balloons) and Kristy Edel (Twisty Kristy) -
Two FABULOUSLY talented balloon artists!
We all work together as a team on large projects like this.
Thank you, ladies!

And the rest of the team who made this all possible....

High School Dance - SUPERHERO idea for "how to ask"

This month I had a request from some teenage girls for some "superhero" balloons.  They wanted to "ask" someone to go to MORP (for those of you who don't know what Morp is...it's Prom backwards...girl-ask-guy).
A couple gals used the phrase:  "You'd be my HERO if you'd go to Morp with me!"
Another:  "It would take more than a team of SUPERHEROES to stop me from asking you to Morp!"
So Fun!

(Based on the superhero design by Ken Stillman.)

WEDDING IN PINK AND WHITE

I was recently asked to do the decorations for a wedding reception.  The bride and her mother wanted "balloons".  The father said, "When I think of balloons - I think of a carnival."  I assured him that we wouldn't let the wedding decor look like a carnival.

The bride asked for decor in light pink, white, and silver (grey).  She preferred small flowers and very little greenery.  We decided on a lighted "Lace Arch", lighted "Street Lamps" in pink and white, balloon topiaries for the centerpieces and entrance, and a decorative arch for the cake table.  After all the balloons were done...this is what it looked like...

Sincere THANKS to two very talented balloon artists, Marta Hoburg and Kristy Edel, who helped make it all happen. You gals are awesome!

Balloons at the ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS Fan Fest!

I'll confess - walking through the tunnel and onto right field at Chase Field (home of the Arizona Diamondbacks) DEFINITELY made me giddy!  I was helping my good friend, Kristy Edel, set-up Baseball Bat Balloon Columns for the Diamondback's Annual Fan Fest...few others were even visible there in the ballpark.  Can I just say..."AWESOME!"  Funny how such a simple thing can bring a HUGE smile to your face and totally make your day!

The next day, we (Kristy Edel, Marta Hoburg, Taulbee McJunkin, and I) got to spend time making balloon animals for the fans.   Marta and I even were brave enough to do karaoke (we had never heard the "Diamondback Swing" before...amazing how much fun you can have making an idiot of yourself.)  Gotta love it!
